Her Majesty, the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth II, was greeted by hundreds of well wishers at the Alexandra Gardens where she opened a new band stand after carrying out some engagements prior to her birthday.
Skynews reported that the queen ‘met school children who were involved in
its decoration before they sang a number of songs, including When I’m 64 and Happy Birthday, accompanied by the Band of the Irish Guards’
It was asserted that the monarch’s birthday was not until today Thursday when she will become the country’s first nonagenarian sovereign.
She was born April 21 1926 and ascended the throne in February 1952.
