Chelsea team would not be awarded any bonus if they should qualify for the UEFA champions league title next season.
The club which failed to hit the top four spot last season in the English Premier League didnt qualify for Champions League this season.
Their stars suffered no financial hit when they failed to finish in the top four last season as the club put no clauses in contracts to guard against missing out on European football. It saw their salary bill stay the same, with Eden Hazard the club’s top earner on £200,000 a week.
Chelsea are among the few clubs who do not hand out bonuses for the sake of it because they prefer to reward players for winning trophies, not for performance related reasons.
Hence no bonus to the team as they return to champions league having maintained a top four position this season in EPL since new coach Antonio Conte arrived.
