Anambra State Government through its Ministry of Economic Planning, Budget & Development and ANSIPPA has announced plans for the development of an ultra modern bounded container freight terminal in the State.
The state government is in talks with a Chinese firm for the development of rail projects.
The state governor Chief Willie Obiano disclosed this at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia when he signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with an investment of 5.5Billion Naira that will see the execution of the project under a special purpose vehicle to be called Anambra Bounded Container Freight Terminal, Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Council Area.
The terminal would also include container shed, equipment maintenance workshop, lorry/container park, control tower and tanks among others as well as building to accommodate government agencies such as NAFDAC, NDLEA, and the Nigerian Customs services reported the State’s official website.
Managing Director of the investing company, Chief Anthony Nwabunike observed that the project is very strategic as it will help address the numerous challenges which the business community in the State face in the hands of custom officers on federal roads.
